Career Goals

After completing my doctoral studies I would seek out jobs similar to those listed below. The following positions are examples of my interests and each position would provide an opportunity to utilize the research skills developed at the University of Georgia.

 

By becoming a faculty member at an academic institution I can gain experience and further develop my skills to fulfill my long-term goal of doing consultancy work in academia. 

 

Position #1

Job Title: Assistant Professor of Instructional Design & Technology

Employer: Old Dominion University 

Responsibilities:

  • Teaching, advising and mentoring master's and doctoral students

  • Conducting research to obtain external funding, developing scholarly publications

  • Delivering presentations at international and national professional associations, and contributing to the university's mission and goal

  •  Experience in delivering distance learning courses and different distance learning modalities is required, e.g., synchronous, asynchronous, and blended via televised and web-based delivery systems. 

Position #2

Job Title: Assistant Professor 

Employer: University of Florida

Responsibilities:  

  • Developing and maintaining a clear, systematic line of research; vigorously pursuing external research funding

  • Publishing in top-tier scholarly journals; presenting research findings at meetings of professional associations

  • Contributing to advising and teaching undergraduate and graduate students

  • Engaging in service to the program, School, College, University, and profession, in general.

Position #3

Job Title: Instructional Design/Technology Director

Employer: University of Pennsylvania

Responsibilities:

  • Determine technology services and products for students to integrate within their learning strategies and for Weingarten Center staff to incorporate in their approaches in handling their position responsibilities.

  • To create and cultivate relationships with University academic entities, such as Center for Teaching and Learning, Online Teaching Initiative, and academic departments and promote the pedagogical elements and benefits of Universal Design.

  • Create and teach workshops for a variety of audiences on topics ranging from incorporating technology in instructional design to using applications to strengthen study strategies.

  • To assist the Weingarten Center with website updates and social media platforms.

  • Attend Weingarten Center meetings (Disability Services, Learning Specialists, Tutoring, all Weingarten staff) and serve as a consultant for staff to integrate technology in their work to enhance their professional development.
