Training
Over the summer 2022 the Johns Hopkins University Teaching Institute hosted a 4-day workshop with the aim of guiding future faculty through an in-depth exploration of culturally responsive, evidence-based teaching and learning practices. The training was packed with information, experiences, tools, and resources that prepared me for my role as a graduate teaching assistant.
In the Spring of 2022 I participated in the Graduate School’s Emerging Leaders Program. During the program I was able to learn from experts and fellow graduate students what it means to challenge yourself to be the best leader you can be. A series of workshops were held during the semester with the goal of assisting us with not only understanding our professional goals and leadership styles, but also with gaining personal insights into our strengths and weaknesses.
The Collaborative IRB Training Initiative (CITI) certificate was completed as part of the ERSH 6200 course requirements. In completing the training, I was able to gain a greater understanding of the parameters in which human research must be completed. The training covered the ethics and procedures for the use of human subjects research before the IRB may review a submission.
